Cheongdam-dong Veneers: A Treatment Case for Protruding, Gapped Teeth

Gaps between teeth that can't be resolved with orthodontic treatment,

or protrusion of the teeth that can't be resolved with orthodontic treatment,

occur when the teeth are too small or there's a positional problem with the lower teeth,

making orthodontic treatment difficult.

In cases like this, veneers become the best solution.

With the two front teeth being too small,

there's a gap between the teeth.

In terms of proportion, the front teeth are on the small side,

and in this case, their actual size is also much smaller than the average tooth size.

Viewed from the side, the teeth protrude quite noticeably.

Because of the position of the lower teeth,

it's a case where simple orthodontic treatment can't easily bring the teeth inward.

In a situation like this, where the teeth are small,

Of course, through a very precise diagnosis,

it's important to reduce exactly the amount that's needed, and no more.

If the teeth don't protrude

and are only small and gapped,

no-prep veneers would be possible,

but to resolve the protrusion, tooth reduction is essential.

We measure the proportions of the teeth,

simulate the amount of tooth reduction,

decide how much gum contouring to do,

and then make a wax mock-up of the teeth.

Tooth reduction

and fabrication of temporary teeth are carried out.

Along with tooth reduction, gum contouring is also done together

to make the teeth longer.

Since this was a case where the width of the teeth needed to be widened,

the length of the teeth also had to be increased together

in order to maintain a normal proportion.

The Cheongdam-dong veneer treatment has been completed.

The teeth now have a bright, clear, translucent feel.

The three-dimensional feel of the teeth is distinct,

giving a natural look,

and a natural translucency was also added at the tooth edges.

Achieving this many different effects with extremely thin veneers

is not an easy task.

Even viewed from the side, they show good proportions.

Because the Cheongdam-dong veneers blend well with the gums,

the likelihood of gum inflammation is noticeably lower.

This is an advantage of thin veneers,

and also an advantage of the handmade approach.
