Sinsa-dong Veneers: Veneer Treatment for Gapped Front Teeth
Hello, I am Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.
There are various reasons why gaps open up between the front teeth.
Most often, it's because the jawbone is large while the teeth are small.
Sometimes the bone size is normal but the teeth are too small,
or the tooth size is normal but the bone is too large — cases like that can happen too.
The treatment method differs depending on the situation.
Among these, if the problem is that the teeth are too small,
treatment through orthodontics is difficult, and
Sinsa-dong veneer treatment is needed.
In this case, the teeth being small means there's a possibility of no-prep veneers.
The three main conditions for no-prep veneers are
good alignment, small teeth, and no protrusion —
these three.
If the teeth are gapped but the arrangement is even and there's no protrusion,
you can consider the chance of no-prep veneers to be high.
With the teeth gapped like this,
if the size of the dental arch is normal,
the teeth need to be made bigger.
Since all the teeth were small, close to being undersized (peg) teeth,
increasing the tooth size was aesthetically very advantageous in this case.
However, since the tooth length was too long,
the length needed to be shortened,
so that part had to be reduced.
First, on how best to carry out the treatment,
a diagnosis that predicts the treatment process and outcome needs to be carried out.
For more on this process, along with what makes our clinic's Sinsa-dong veneers distinctive, please refer to the link below.
The diagnosis follows the wax-up precision diagnosis process described in the link above.
In Sinsa-dong veneer treatment, harmony with the whole face, not just the teeth, needs to be considered first, and
then, looking at the proportions and bite of the teeth,
we decide how to proceed with treatment.
The treatment outcome and the amount of tooth reduction are decided this way.
All of this process is organized and discussed with the patient, and
the amount of reduction is explained in detail for each individual tooth.
The patient can check the resulting shape in advance.
Tooth reduction proceeds according to the predicted shape.
Only the length of the teeth is reduced.
Now, fabrication of the Sinsa-dong veneers begins in ceramic.
The veneers at our Dream Dental Clinic
aren't the kind simply produced by computer like a mass-produced item —
they're veneers made by hand, one at a time.
A natural yet beautiful result is the top priority.
The Sinsa-dong veneer treatment was completed this way.
To create the feel of a natural tooth,
a sense of dimension and a natural design are needed, and
rather than making the tooth color a single flat shade,
a variety of shades are given to it, while
translucency in the tooth still needs to be expressed.
Veneers made by computer in a single day can't achieve expression like this.
