Natural, Beautiful Front Veneers
Hello. I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.
When it comes to shaping a person's impression,
the smile matters a great deal.
A beautiful smile, together with the overall impression of the face,
depends heavily on teeth that harmonize with the lips.
A smile is only complete when the teeth themselves are beautiful.
Aesthetic issues with the teeth
include alignment, the shape or color of the teeth, gum problems, and more.
Among these, what resolves issues with the shape and color of the teeth
is front veneers.
Problems with the shape of the front teeth are sometimes congenital,
but in many cases they arise from wear or cavities,
and teeth can also chip due to trauma.
Cavities or chips in the front teeth are usually treated with resin.
Since resin is a material that discolors over time,
issues often develop as time passes.
Let's look at a case where, after resin treatment, aesthetic issues
led to front veneer treatment.
The patient had both cavities and chips,
and had repeatedly received resin treatment between the teeth and at the chipped areas,
but black triangles had developed and the discoloration had worsened,
so the patient came in for front veneer treatment.
Resin treatment can be seen throughout.
Resin is a good material that closely matches tooth color,
and works well on molars or in small areas,
but for treating a large area on the front teeth like this,
it tends to require frequent retreatment over the long term,
so it does have some drawbacks.
First, we review how the treatment will be carried out with veneers.
Most of the existing resin needs to be removed and retreated,
and how to address the black triangles between the teeth also needs careful consideration.
Since nearly everything — the alignment, shape, and color of the teeth — needed improving,
a precise diagnosis was essential.
Please see the link below for this process.
Diagnosis proceeds as described in the link above.
The current proportions of the teeth are measured,
and after checking the relationship between the whole face and the teeth,
a treatment plan is set.
At this stage, even the amount of tooth reduction is finalized before proceeding.
As I always emphasize in every post,
the precision wax-up diagnostic process
is a critical step for setting the overall plan in front veneer treatment.
Treatment has been completed.
The shape, color, and alignment of the teeth all changed dramatically.
What matters here
is that the teeth look natural.
Rather than a veneer that's white and opaque, awkward-looking to anyone,
while keeping all the varied characteristics of a natural tooth,
the result was finished as beautiful, natural-looking teeth.
