A Look at Various Before-and-After Veneer Case Photos

By Park Jonguk, DDS, MS — board-certified specialist in conservative dentistry Published

Hello, I'm Dr. Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.

Doing veneer treatment over a long period,

I've handled a truly large and varied number of cases.

The single biggest feature of the veneers I do

is that I treat with the goal of

"beautiful, natural-looking teeth."

Recently, a lot of veneers have ended up looking artificial or unnatural,

showing in a way that stands out badly.

The reason artificial-looking veneers like this, ones that show, are becoming more common

is that making them that way is considerably easier.

Especially since CAD/CAM systems were introduced into dentistry

and started showing results above a certain level,

quite a lot of dental clinics have moved to this computer-based ceramic fabrication.

We're no exception either — we have various CAD/CAM equipment

and use it in fabricating dental restorations.

However, since it still falls far short of handwork esthetically,

we limit its use to the back teeth only.

For the difference between a handmade veneer and a one-day veneer made by computer in a single day,

please refer to the link below.

I'd like to walk through some before-and-after photo comparisons of the veneers I do.

As you look at the changes across various cases,

I hope you'll get a feel for the esthetics of veneers.

The cases I'm showing you today are retreatments of old veneers and all-ceramic crowns.

Removing the ceramic must not damage the tooth either.

For removing ceramic or veneers during retreatment,

Dream Dental Clinic's innovative laser removal is essential.

Retreatment was carried out due to gum inflammation and chipping.

This was also a case where the patient wanted the tooth color made brighter.

The gum inflammation cleared up completely,

and the tooth color was finished considerably brighter.

This was an old all-ceramic crown.

It had chipped,

and the two sides weren't symmetrical.

Overall gum inflammation was also observed.

We made the teeth more natural,

and carried out treatment so there was almost no gum inflammation.

The photo below is before treatment,

where the two front teeth had crowns.

The tooth color was also yellowish,

but the bigger problem was that the teeth had shifted, opening up gaps between them.

The teeth next to the front teeth were peg-shaped teeth, so no-prep veneers were carried out on them together.

The two front teeth had crown treatment.

One front tooth was missing, which was a case that should have called for orthodontics,

but it had been treated somewhat forcibly with a crown instead,

and the problem was that the result was far too lacking esthetically.

By adding 2 veneers,

we considerably strengthened the esthetic aspect.

This was an extremely unnatural-looking all-ceramic crown on the front teeth.

Much more natural!!!

It was finished this way to look like a natural tooth, matched especially to the face shape.

This was an all-ceramic crown with gum inflammation and an unnatural, dull appearance.

The gum inflammation cleared up completely,

and it changed completely into bright, natural-looking teeth.

This was an old, chipped all-ceramic crown on the front teeth.

It was finished this way,

looking more like a natural tooth, and more beautiful.

This too is a veneer that looks awkward and strange at a glance.

Turning a veneer like this

into something that looks like a natural tooth is exactly what Dream Dental Clinic's veneers are about.
