A Look at Various Before-and-After Veneer Case Photos, Part 2

Hello, I'm Dr. Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.

In the previous piece, we looked at

retreatment cases for veneers and all-ceramic crowns.

In this piece, I'd like to look at before-and-after photos

of a variety of veneer and all-ceramic crown treatments.

Rather than retreatment, we'll look at cases going from natural teeth

to more beautiful teeth, before and after tooth reshaping.

Every case includes a precise diagnostic process.

Orthodontics had been done,

but the shape of the front teeth was too square,

and the lateral incisors were peg-shaped teeth, far too small.

Esthetic problems that orthodontics can't solve

can mostly be resolved with tooth reshaping — that is, veneers.

I keep emphasizing this, but

tooth reshaping that ends up looking like a strip of xylitol gum stuck on

is on a completely different level from natural tooth reshaping like this.

You can think of the whole fabrication process as being like crafting a fine piece.

One tooth was protruding forward,

and there was also a chip at the tip of the tooth.

Veneers are exactly the method that resolves both of these at once.

The alignment was good, but this was a case with a severe deep bite.

In a case like this, no-prep veneers are possible.

As in the photos above,

we took photos with the veneers placed on the teeth without any reduction.

Even in a no-prep case like this,

the teeth should never look artificial — they should always look natural and beautiful.

Making the alignment more even,

while also improving the chip and the staining on the tooth — that's what veneers do.

One advantage is being able to resolve a variety of esthetic problems in a short amount of time.

Only the two front teeth were quite large.

On top of that, the tooth color was fairly dark.

Doing veneers on large teeth isn't an easy process.

A truly precise diagnosis is essential,

and only precise tooth reduction, matched to that diagnosis,

can preserve tooth health.

A gap like this

can also be treated without any reduction at all.

This is called a feldspathic laminate.

It's a method of bonding an extremely thin piece of ceramic between the teeth.

Because it's so translucent, it doesn't show that anything was added.

Making teeth pretty, bright, and beautiful.

And protecting the health of the tooth throughout is important as well.

While reshaping the form of the tooth and the space between teeth,

the tooth's color and translucent feel are kept exactly as they are.

It blends naturally with the remaining natural teeth.
