No-Prep Veneers for Over-Retracted Teeth After Orthodontic Treatment

I've been continuously posting about cases where veneers are done after orthodontic treatment.

Please refer to my earlier posts.

Today's topic is about cases where the teeth become over-retracted after braces.

When you get orthodontic treatment, a diagnosis is made at the start of treatment,

and during that diagnostic process, a decision is made between extraction and non-extraction orthodontics.

Depending on the case, both extraction and non-extraction can end up being ambiguous choices,

and in this situation, choosing extraction orthodontics can sometimes result in over-retracted teeth.

Of course this doesn't happen in every case, but when it occasionally does happen,

the teeth end up tilted too far inward, so they don't show much when speaking or smiling.

To improve this problem, no-prep veneers are used in most cases.

This is a photo shown in an earlier post.

You can see that after orthodontic treatment, the alignment is also somewhat off.

In a state of over-retraction like this, no-prep veneers are possible.

After fabricating the veneers, I took a photo with them placed on the teeth.

You can see how much the over-retraction improves with veneer treatment.

This is the appearance three years after treatment.

The tooth color and shape look natural, and the over-retraction problem has been fully corrected.

In mid-May 2025, the veneer textbook I wrote will be published.

I wrote it for dentists who haven't yet worked with veneers,

as well as for dentists who are already doing veneer treatment

but want to take their veneer treatment to a more advanced level.

Above all, I focused on diagnosis during the treatment process,

and I wrote as extensively as possible on tooth analysis and aesthetic concepts.

I put everything from my 20 years of veneer clinical experience into it, along with the many cases

and many photographs I've encountered, hoping it would become

Korea's first textbook devoted solely to veneers, and I put my full effort into it.

To mark the book's publication, starting in May I'll be running an even more intensive seminar.

With even more substantial content, I'll help dentists provide even better veneer treatment.
