Gangnam Veneer Retreatment, Naturally and Beautifully

By Park Jonguk, DDS, MS — board-certified specialist in conservative dentistry Published

Hello, I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic and director of Lamista Academy.

Veneer treatment is an important treatment for restoring the esthetics of the teeth and regaining confidence.

But recently, because veneers received in the past often looked overly artificial or unnatural,

more and more patients are visiting our clinic for retreatment.

Cases where the shape of the teeth doesn't harmonize with the face,

where the shade is too bright to look natural,

or where excessive thickness causes discomfort with speech and daily life, are typical examples.

Rather than simply covering up these problems again,

we comprehensively consider each patient's face shape, smile line, tooth alignment, and shade,

and focus on creating natural harmony.

Veneers aren't simply a treatment for making teeth white —

they only have real meaning when they satisfy both functional stability and esthetic balance at the same time.

That's why we make minimal reduction our guiding principle, preserving as much of the patient's precious tooth structure as possible,

while striving to bring a smile to life through light-permeating translucency and natural shading.

Patients who were unsatisfied because their veneers looked artificial often tell us, after retreatment,

"Now it finally feels like my own teeth."

and hearing that gives me a great sense of fulfillment as well.

Going forward, our clinic will continue to go beyond simple esthetic improvement,

offering veneer treatment that respects each patient's individuality and naturalness,

to give even more patients healthy, beautiful smiles.

In cases like this, with old veneers or veneers the patient is unhappy with the shape of, they need to be removed.

Veneers are typically removed by grinding them off,

and in that case, damage to the tooth increases significantly.

To remove them while minimizing damage to the tooth,

laser-assisted veneer removal is important.

When removal is done using a laser this way,

the adhesive between the tooth and the veneer weakens,

the veneer comes off, and only the adhesive remains on the tooth surface.

This is what it looked like after removal.

The white areas you see are the remaining adhesive.

Once all the adhesive is removed, the shape of the natural tooth is revealed like this.

The surface of the tooth retains the exact texture of a natural tooth surface.

This shows just how little damage was done to the tooth.

Only by removing veneers this way

can damage to the tooth be minimized.

The shape and color of these four front teeth looked quite unnatural.

They were opaque, and the tooth shape wasn't right either.

It's important to create a natural look that fits the face shape,

and it's just as important for the shape and color of the teeth to be natural and beautiful.

In this way, veneers at Dream Dental Clinic

are made with care put into each individual tooth.

This offers a natural quality that same-day methods simply can't match.

This patient visited our clinic not long after having veneers placed on six front teeth.

The tooth proportions were off, and the shape looked unnatural as well.

We designed the teeth to look somewhat smaller and carried out natural veneer retreatment.

You can see that they look noticeably smaller.

The shape of the teeth also retains a sense of dimensionality, with translucency well expressed.

Looking at the shape of these four teeth, they couldn't be mistaken for natural teeth,

and you can see that they look opaque and unnatural.

This patient came in for retreatment just one week after getting same-day veneers.

The treatment was finished by capturing the dimensionality and translucency of natural teeth well.

These teeth were treated a long time ago.

The teeth were misaligned and needed orthodontic treatment,

but since the gums weren't in good condition, we decided to proceed with veneer retreatment instead.

This is the natural, beautiful result after retreatment.

The expression of natural teeth was captured very well.

These teeth had no translucency at all.

We carried out veneer retreatment to achieve translucent, bright teeth.

They were reborn as veneers with vivid, well-expressed translucency.

Veneers at Dream Dental Clinic

are natural and beautiful.

Even though they may be same-day or handmade,

a great many patients come to us after receiving veneers that look unnatural, awkward, artificial, and dull.

These days, most clinics are producing veneers that look this unnatural.

These veneers are made this way because clinics prioritize making them fast, cheap, and in high volume.

Don't settle for regret — get beautiful veneer treatment done right from the start.
