No-Prep Veneers: More Possibilities Than You Think
Hello, I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic and director of Lamista Academy, where I teach veneer techniques to fellow dentists.
In veneer treatment, what many people fear most is having to 'grind down' their teeth.
But recently, no-prep veneers, which minimize or completely eliminate tooth reduction, have become possible,
allowing patients to achieve beautiful aesthetic results while preserving the precious structure of their natural teeth.
Because no-prep veneers are bonded on without reducing the tooth,
the tooth's original translucency and texture remain intact even after treatment,
giving a much more natural and comfortable feel, which is a major advantage.
In particular, no-prep partial veneers, which cover only the needed area rather than the entire tooth,
can be considered an even more advanced technique.
Since it requires precisely refining part of the tooth's shape while naturally blending the border with the surrounding teeth,
it demands seasoned clinical experience and an aesthetic eye.
Partial veneers are effective for correcting minor imbalances, chips, or localized color issues,
and can achieve natural harmony without touching the entire tooth.
Based on a philosophy of preserving and protecting our patients' teeth as much as possible,
our clinic aims to achieve the naturalness and comfort of a patient's own teeth through no-prep veneers and no-prep partial veneers.
Going beyond simply 'bonding something on,' we take a precise approach that considers the tooth's physiological characteristics and harmony with each patient's face,
so that our patients can smile with more confidence in everyday life.
There are empty spaces between the teeth, and the tooth sizes are uneven.
In such cases, veneers are usually done with some degree of tooth reduction.
Tooth reduction is unavoidable when necessary,
but it's best avoided whenever possible.
By performing partial no-prep veneers, bonded on only where needed,
we can achieve a more effective result while preserving the natural teeth well.
This is how no-prep partial veneers are made.
They are made to cover only part of the tooth.
Two teeth are treated with partial veneers, and three teeth are treated with full-coverage no-prep veneers.
Let me show you this treatment process in a video.
I've shown a brief overview of the process.
A process like this requires extensive clinical experience.
Having practiced veneer treatment for 20 years,
and with the experience of publishing Korea's first veneer-specialty textbook,
we are successfully carrying out this kind of no-prep veneer treatment.
This is the appearance after the veneers were set.
Without reducing the teeth at all,
these were no-prep partial veneers that brought out the teeth's balance and beauty.
Q. What are no-prep veneers?
As the name suggests, no-prep veneers are bonded on without grinding down the teeth. Since there's no tooth reduction, the natural translucency and texture of the teeth remain intact, giving a much more natural and comfortable result. Many patients prefer this approach because it keeps the feel of their original teeth even after treatment.
Q. What kind of treatment is partial veneers?
Partial veneers are an advanced treatment that applies a veneer only to the area that needs it, rather than the entire tooth. Because it must precisely correct small chips, color imbalances, or shape issues while naturally blending with the surrounding teeth, it requires a high level of skill and aesthetic sense.
Q. What advantage do both treatments share?
Both no-prep veneers and partial veneers are based on the philosophy of preserving the teeth as much as possible. Rather than simply covering the teeth to look white, they are precisely designed with the tooth's own physiological characteristics and harmony with the face in mind, resulting in a natural smile.
Our clinic always diagnoses and treats with great care, so we can give our patients a beautiful, natural change while protecting their precious teeth.
