Veneer treatment is

A veneer involves reducing the front surface of the tooth and attaching

Today, let's look at a case of veneer treatment

that required a certain amount of reduction in order to significantly change the shape of the teeth.

Looking at this photo, there are two things I'd like to explain.

The first is the translucency of natural teeth.

Teeth aren't made of a single material;

they're composed of various layers and components,

so different parts can appear yellowish, whitish, or translucent.

To capture the feel of natural teeth, all of these varied qualities need to be well expressed.

In the case of the tooth above, the translucency is arguably a bit excessive.

The other point

is that when a tooth has a pentagonal shape like this,

orthodontic treatment alone

has limits when it comes to making the teeth look attractive.

In this case, the method that can beautifully address

both the tooth shade and the alignment of the teeth at once

is veneers, which are the best option here.

However, because the amount of change needed in tooth shape is significant,

no-prep or micro-reduction methods wouldn't be sufficient,

so a standard level of front teeth veneer reduction is needed —

one that doesn't put excessive strain on tooth health.

For this reason, thorough preparation before treatment is essential.

The precision wax-up diagnostic process

involves analyzing the current state of the teeth,

and it's an important step for predicting both the amount of reduction and the final result.

Only after finishing this full analysis of the current state,

the amount of tooth reduction, and the expected result

should treatment actually begin.

Following the plan, we use a microscope

to carry out precise tooth reduction.

Using a microscope during tooth reduction is an essential part of the process.

We placed the ceramic front teeth veneer

onto the tooth to check the fit.

With natural dimensionality and shading,

it was fabricated to clearly convey the feel of a natural tooth.

This photo was taken two months after the front teeth veneer treatment was completed.

You can see that the gums and the ceramic blend well together.
