Veneer treatment

is one method of cosmetic tooth reshaping that makes the front teeth look more attractive.

To improve the shape of the teeth,

tooth reduction is sometimes needed depending on the case,

and the method that removes no tooth structure at all

is called no-prep veneers.

Otherwise, it can be considered a standard veneer,

and depending on the amount removed,

The difference in how much tooth is removed

leads to differences in the lifespan and outcome of the veneer.

The less tooth structure is removed,

The two front teeth had a gap between them,

and the teeth next to the front teeth, the lateral incisors,

were undersized peg laterals.

The size ratio between the front teeth and the adjacent teeth was mismatched,

there was a gap between the front teeth,

and the shape of the teeth wasn't esthetically pleasing either.

Given this condition,

the esthetic goal achieved through veneers and the goal of tooth health —

in order to achieve both of these,

we proceeded with treatment.

We carried out an analysis of the current teeth.

The proportion between teeth

is extremely important in the esthetic analysis of teeth.

How this proportion is changed through veneers

determines the esthetic outcome of the teeth.

We check the expected amount of tooth reduction

and use wax to shape a preview of the veneers.

Through this process,

we confirm an analysis of the current state of the teeth,

the amount of tooth reduction needed during treatment,

and the shape of the final veneers, all at once.

We carry out tooth reduction according to the treatment plan.

For the peg-shaped,

undersized lateral incisors, we perform almost no reduction.

We only round off the angular parts,

so it falls somewhere between no-prep and micro reduction.

Now, to fabricate the veneers,

we take an impression

and move into fabrication.
