Gangnam Veneers: Natural and Harmonious to Anyone's Eye

By Park Jonguk, DDS, MS — board-certified specialist in conservative dentistry Published

Hello. I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.

Gangnam veneers are one method of tooth reshaping

used to beautify the front teeth.

Making teeth beautiful means

having them look even and natural to anyone's eye,

suiting the face shape and staying bright,

while harmonizing well with the lips and surrounding tissue,

so that the smile becomes beautiful.

The same is true for eye or nose surgery,

and there was once a trend for surgery that looked awkward and obvious,

but these days, natural yet

beautiful results are the mainstream.

There will always be trends that come and go,

but the one constant truth is naturalness.

The same holds for tooth reshaping.

Veneers that look as awkward and unnatural as a stick of xylitol gum

have their own trend as well,

and from most clinics' point of view, making them that way

is cheaper, simpler, and saves time.

Making a natural, beautiful Gangnam veneer,

on the other hand, is a demanding process that takes considerable time and cost.

Teeth whose shape didn't suit the face,

gapped front teeth,

and an overall angular appearance

to beautifully reshape the teeth,

the patient chose Gangnam veneer treatment.

Looking at the tooth proportions,

the canines showed quite noticeably,

and the two front teeth had an asymmetry problem.

As for the lateral incisor, the tooth next to the front tooth,

its shape was angular enough to look as though it had been heavily worn down.

Let's see how veneer treatment resolved these aesthetic issues.

A veneer begins

with an accurate analysis of the current state.

From the shape of each individual tooth to the alignment of the teeth,

we check the degree of protrusion and the bite,

the harmony with the face, and, when talking or smiling,

we check how much of the tooth shows and whether it's symmetrical.

After analyzing all these various factors,

we build the teeth in wax to work out how to treat them.

This whole series of steps is called wax-up precision diagnosis.

Including this process,

please see the link below for the features of Dream Dental Clinic's Gangnam veneer treatment process.

Through this process,

we finalize the amount of tooth reduction in advance.

Once the precise treatment plan has been fully established,

we proceed with the Gangnam veneer treatment.

We carry out tooth reduction according to the treatment plan.

For the front teeth, to resolve the amount of gapping and the asymmetry,

we carry out the minimum reduction needed.

As for the lateral incisor,

almost no reduction was needed for the veneer treatment,

so treatment proceeded as essentially no-prep.

The Gangnam veneer treatment has been completed.

We gave the tooth

a clear sense of three-dimensionality,

reproducing a natural tooth shape.

Most one-day methods

simply cannot give the tooth this kind of three-dimensionality.

We also fully brought out the translucency at the tooth tip,

expressing a natural-looking veneer.

The harmony with the gums is good as well,

and you can see it flow together naturally.

The texture of the tooth surface, too,

is well expressed in the Gangnam veneer.
