Celebrity Veneers: A Natural Result with No-Prep Treatment
Hello, I'm Dr. Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.
TV programs occasionally feature stories about celebrities who reportedly had veneer treatment.
Sometimes footage of the treatment itself is shown,
and sometimes celebrities simply discuss on air whether they've had it done or not.
But every once in a while, even without anyone saying anything,
it's obvious just by looking that someone has had it done—
because it looks so unnatural.
Made excessively white and opaque,
the result is sometimes something no one could mistake for a natural tooth.
That may be because the patient actually preferred that exaggerated look,
but it could just as easily be because making something that exaggerated and obvious is simply the easy way out.
Veneers that stay completely undetectable, even if the patient had them done and never says a word—
that's the kind of veneer we pursue at Dream Dental Clinic.
And of course, minimizing reduction goes without saying.
The teeth had gaps between them,
and were quite small.
Given the bite, celebrity-style veneer treatment wasn't straightforward either,
but if the overly long lower canine was trimmed down slightly,
veneers—no-prep veneers, in fact, rather than orthodontics—became a viable option.
That said, depending on the case, some minimal reduction is still needed to make the tooth shape more attractive.
Setting the bite issues aside,
if you look only at the upper teeth, there are gaps between the front teeth,
and an undersized tooth is visible.
There's also the issue of an overly pointed canine.
The line at the edge of the teeth wasn't even,
and most of the teeth had some shape issue.
We measure the proportion of the teeth and carry out a wax-up precision diagnosis to figure out how to improve them.
This process is the starting point of celebrity veneer treatment and has the biggest influence on the entire course of care,
so it needs to be carried out with great precision. Please see the link below for that process.
Its importance is even greater for no-prep veneers in particular.
We build the improved tooth shape in wax beforehand.
Then, using this model as the standard, we determine the amount of tooth reduction and begin treatment.
Once fabrication of the no-prep veneers was complete,
we took a photo with only half of them placed.
This makes the before-and-after change in the teeth clearly visible.
We also check whether the interproximal areas are well wrapped.
Into extremely thin ceramic, we captured the full range of a natural tooth's expression.
The treatment has been completed.
In many celebrity veneer cases, the result has no natural-tooth quality at all,
sometimes coming out looking awkward and dull.
Here, though, the natural-tooth feel is clearly preserved,
while the alignment and the tooth proportions have both improved—
making them even more beautiful.
Right down to the texture of the tooth surface,
every fine detail was captured.
