No-Prep Veneers: Turning Awkward-Looking Teeth Natural
Hello, I'm Dr. Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.
Having done veneer treatment in Apgujeong-dong since 2006,
I've seen quite a lot of change over these nearly 20 years.
The biggest change, in particular, has been the introduction of computer-based design and fabrication for veneers.
This is called CAD/CAM.
Computer-based dental treatment started being attempted about 25 years ago,
and around 10 years ago, once enough of a foundation had built up,
the shift toward it began accelerating.
For back-tooth treatment, restorations are now being fabricated by computer quite extensively.
The problem is the front teeth.
For front teeth, rather than function,
esthetics matters more.
Can computer-based design and fabrication
really satisfy every aspect of esthetics?
The computer-based method can churn out large numbers of veneers like a factory,
but it falls considerably short when it comes to producing veneers that are esthetically satisfying.
Please see the link below for more on this.
Dream Dental Clinic
has a system optimized for esthetic veneers — natural-looking, no-prep veneers.
There was spacing between the teeth,
and the tooth beside the front tooth was undersized, or a peg tooth.
The teeth were small overall, but the two front teeth alone were long.
No-prep veneers are usually possible in cases like this,
but the problem was that the two front teeth were too long, so a minimal amount of reduction was needed to shorten them.
A precise analysis and diagnosis is needed to decide on the treatment.
Please see the link below for the precision wax-up diagnosis process.
After diagnosing the current state of the teeth like this,
we use wax to preview how they'll change.
At this point, we decide in advance how much to reduce the tooth,
and then carry out the treatment with precision.
This process matters especially for no-prep veneers.
We can preview what things will look like after treatment,
and we need to pay close attention to how the tooth size changes.
We carry out the tooth reduction according to the plan.
We shortened only the length of the two front teeth, and for the other teeth, refined only the sharp areas,
then proceeded with no-prep veneer treatment.
The treatment was completed this way.
Veneers at Dream Dental Clinic
always faithfully capture the feel of a natural tooth.
Especially with no-prep veneers,
achieving this much range of expression within such minimal thickness is far from easy.
It's an area that a same-day method simply can't reach.
