A Skilled Veneer Clinic in Seoul: Why Naturalness Matters Most
Hello.
I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic, a skilled veneer clinic in Seoul.
Veneer treatment is done to make teeth beautiful.
Beauty is, of course, largely a matter of subjective judgment.
But there tend to be certain guidelines
for what most people consider beautiful.
There was a time when the phrase 'Gangnam beauty' was common enough
as an expression for an artificial look created through cosmetic surgery.
These days, though, the trend even in cosmetic surgery is toward a natural, pretty result.
With cosmetic dental work in particular, finishing with artificial-looking teeth
looks truly unnatural.
Like a stick of xylitol gum stuck flat onto the teeth,
that kind of dental cosmetic work is usually the result of a quick, simplified treatment.
With none of the tooth's basic shape, color, or translucency preserved,
the result ends up looking white and unnatural.
Doing veneers in a single flat, opaque shade like this
is something anyone can do.
Since it's done using CAD/CAM, a computer designs it
and the ceramic is milled out mechanically,
so it's a very simple treatment method.
But making veneers that mimic a natural tooth
while also looking beautiful is quite a demanding process.
Without a real foundation of long experience,
you can consider it essentially impossible to make well.
The one-day method and the handmade method
can be thought of as the difference between a mass-produced item and a small-batch, high-end piece.
What matters even more
is that because of this difference in fabrication method,
the handmade method allows for less tooth reduction.
Some teeth were slightly chipped, and others had already been treated with resin,
with a bite that wasn't very well-aligned — a case that would be difficult to resolve with orthodontics alone.
The alignment needed some correction,
but the shape of the teeth also needed to be made more natural and attractive.
First, the direction the patient wanted
and the amount of tooth structure that would need to be reduced during treatment had to be evaluated.
This is why the diagnostic process is essential.
If you check the link above, you can see
exactly what process is used to make the diagnosis.
Through this detailed, precise diagnostic process,
the amount of tooth reduction is determined,
and after discussing that with the patient,
we decide how to proceed with treatment.
This is the state after tooth reduction has been completed.
Now an impression is taken and fabrication of the veneers begins.
It takes some time,
but our clinic, a skilled veneer clinic in Seoul,
aims to make the result as natural and beautiful as possible.
The alignment has become even.
The teeth are bright, clear, and translucent.
The translucency at the tip of the tooth in particular
is a hallmark feature of young, beautiful teeth.
The veneers need to blend well with the gums
so that gum health can be well maintained.
Brushing is very important as well...
The design of the veneer must not irritate the gums.
In cases where the gum line is noticeably uneven,
gum contouring can be used to even it out,
but in cases where the gums aren't very visible when smiling,
our clinic, a skilled veneer clinic in Seoul, instead
adds a design element to part of the tooth
so it's important that the tooth doesn't visually appear too long.
It's very fine, detailed work.
The texture of the tooth surface, too,
needs to fully retain the feel of a natural tooth.
A tooth's surface isn't perfectly smooth.
White and perfectly smooth is what xylitol gum looks like.
If it's made quickly with the one-day method,
this kind of detail simply can't be captured.
