Front Veneers Pursuing Naturalness at a Sinsa-dong Dental Clinic
Hello. I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic in Sinsa-dong.
If you've decided to go ahead with front veneer treatment,
there are a few things worth considering when choosing a clinic.
First and foremost, whether the clinic carries out a proper diagnosis matters most.
And the diagnostic process and its results need to be explained clearly to the patient.
A detailed explanation of the treatment process beforehand,
whether treatment is even possible, potential issues during treatment, and potential issues afterward —
it's important to choose a Sinsa-dong dental clinic that explains all of this in detail.
And of course, the clinic needs extensive treatment experience.
Veneers aren't a very common treatment.
Most dentists rarely perform veneer treatment,
and there are plenty who have never done one at all.
It's an aesthetic treatment, and only with the right system in place
can proper treatment be delivered.
Rather than a large, factory-like clinic,
what matters is a clinic with genuinely specialized staff.
Making something aesthetic the way you'd mass-produce a ready-made product
makes it hard to get a beautiful result.
Just as luxury goods are made by hand in small batches,
veneers, too, aren't made like a factory product,
but crafted one by one by an artisan's hand,
which is what leads to superior aesthetic results.
A precise diagnostic process, detailed explanations, and extensive experience
matter more here than in any other treatment — that's veneer treatment at a Sinsa-dong dental clinic.
The patient came to our clinic in Sinsa-dong for aesthetic treatment of the front teeth.
Small teeth were one issue,
but the tooth color had also darkened.
This was because the resin used for a cavity treatment had discolored.
Several areas had already been treated for cavities.
Resin discolors over time.
Some areas had new decay,
and some had resin that had simply discolored on its own.
It's a convenient, useful material, but it does have clear limitations.
First, an analysis of the current condition needs to be done.
The proportion of each individual tooth is measured,
as well as the proportion between the teeth.
The asymmetry between the two front teeth is very clear.
The current issues are:
the front teeth are very small, they aren't symmetrical,
and the discoloration needs to be resolved.
In many cases, orthodontics or veneers
are used to correct protruding teeth,
but this case was the opposite — the teeth were angled too far inward,
a retroclined bite.
The advantage of using veneers to correct retroclination like this
is that the amount of tooth reduction ends up considerably less.
This kind of tooth analysis process
is carried out by comparing against the whole face.
Videos of the patient speaking, smiling, and side profiles are all analyzed as well.
Based on this process, the amount of tooth reduction is determined in advance.
If the resin between the teeth is removed and retreated,
that area is better off wrapped in ceramic,
so reduction between the teeth was carried out,
while the front surface of the tooth was left unreduced.
The expected outcome was built in wax.
Treatment proceeds based on this result.
Before treatment: analysis of the current condition,
the amount of tooth reduction,
and, for after front veneer treatment,
the expected result — all of it can be checked before treatment even begins.
Treatment has been completed.
The shape and proportion of the teeth
are designed to follow the shape of the face.
The color of the teeth follows what the patient wants,
while every effort is made to preserve as much translucency as possible.
To keep the feel of a natural tooth alive,
a range of expression is built in.
A sense of dimension in particular is hard to achieve in veneer treatment,
but it absolutely has to be included.
Harmony between the veneer and the gums also matters a great deal.
Only when it's made so as not to irritate the gums
can it be used for a long time without issues.
While enlarging the teeth,
they were made brighter and more radiant.
And by adding translucency and a range of expression at the tips of the teeth,
the feel of natural teeth was never lost.
Even when getting veneers at a Sinsa-dong dental clinic,
keeping that natural look intact is what matters.
