Gapped Teeth Veneer Treatment Case in Apgujeong

A beautiful smile is made up of many different elements.

But what matters most, in the end, are beautiful teeth.

The teeth have to be beautiful for the smile to be beautiful.

Whether teeth look beautiful is decided by a number of factors.

First, the alignment of the teeth needs to be good.

Having the teeth arranged evenly is the basic requirement.

When the alignment is good but the teeth still don't look pretty,

the first factor is proportion.

The proportions between teeth need to be normal, and each individual tooth needs a good width-to-height ratio too.

Teeth that are too small or too large can also be a problem.

In particular, if the teeth are too small, gaps can appear between them.

Next is the shape of the teeth. Each individual tooth needs a normal shape,

and the color of the teeth is also very important.

To improve these various factors,

there are two methods: orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry — that is, Apgujeong veneer treatment.

When the alignment is very poor, orthodontics is the better method,

but when the alignment is reasonably fine

and the problem lies in the proportion, shape, or color of the teeth,

veneers can be the better method.

Veneers work by attaching a thin ceramic plate to the front surface of the tooth,

a treatment that improves the shape and color of the tooth.

In this case, the alignment was fine,

but the teeth were small,

resulting in a case of gapped front teeth with spaces between them.

On top of that, the midline between the front teeth was tilted,

so that part needed to be corrected as well.

The shape of the teeth had also changed, as wear had developed on the edges of the front teeth,

making the teeth look aged.

This can make a person look older.

All of these various aspects needed to be improved.

We needed to fill the gaps between the teeth,

change the tooth size to a normal size,

match the size ratio between the teeth,

and correct the tilted midline.

All of these changes can be achieved with Apgujeong veneer treatment.

Before treatment, a wax-up precision diagnosis is essential.

For a case like this, there are two possible approaches:

it can be done without any reduction, or some reduction may be needed for a greater degree of improvement.

Going the no-prep route limits how much the tooth size or shape can be changed,

so how much the tooth needs to be reduced depends on the desired final result.

This wax-up precision diagnosis is extremely important in Apgujeong veneer treatment.

Through the precision diagnosis, we establish a very precise and accurate treatment plan,

and proceed with treatment accordingly.

This requires two things.

One is a guide, which is the most important part of reducing the tooth.

The other is a microscope.

Since the amount of tooth reduction for Apgujeong veneer treatment is between 0.1 and 0.5mm,

it simply doesn't make sense to do this with the naked eye.

I always use a microscope to carry out fine, precise reduction.

For this case, even with a small amount of reduction,

we decided to bring the tooth size and proportions into better balance.

This allows the ceramic to fit well into the gapped area,

and since the midline between the front teeth was tilted in particular,

a minimal amount of reduction was needed to correct that.

The Apgujeong veneer treatment was completed like this.

Since the patient wanted to keep the same tone as their original teeth,

we fully incorporated a natural tooth expression that matched that feel.

The gapped teeth were finished with a natural feel.
