Front Teeth Veneers to Correct Tooth Shape and Alignment
Hello, I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.
When the alignment of the teeth isn't good,
orthodontic treatment is used.
Occasionally, while the alignment is still poor,
there's also wear or fracture on the teeth,
and even after orthodontics improves the alignment,
the shape of the teeth can still end up being a problem.
In such cases, veneer treatment may still be needed after orthodontics.
Whether to do orthodontics first and then veneers,
or to correct both the alignment and the shape of the teeth with veneers alone,
depends on the case.
In most cases, it's more advantageous to do orthodontics first and veneers afterward,
but given the issues of cost and time,
in order to reach the most reasonable decision,
a precise diagnostic and treatment process is necessary.
The alignment was fairly even to some degree,
but it still needed to be made more even,
and the teeth had chipping and wear.
The fractured areas had already been treated with resin.
Whether to do it after orthodontics
or go straight to veneers
is decided based on the amount of tooth reduction that would be required.
In order to reduce the amount removed,
the current condition of the teeth needs to be good.
Even if orthodontics improves the alignment,
if there are still many problems with the shape of the teeth,
the amount of tooth reduction ends up increasing anyway,
so in this case, orthodontics wouldn't help much.
On top of that, it would take a long time and nearly double the cost.
So we decided to proceed with front teeth veneers in the current state.
What matters in this process
is precise diagnosis.
We check in advance how much tooth reduction is needed
and proceed with treatment only after obtaining the patient's consent.
Precision wax-up diagnosis is essentially the core process of veneer treatment.
Following the content in the link above, after the precision diagnosis,
we carry out tooth reduction precisely according to that diagnosis.
This is what the teeth looked like after reduction for the veneers.
It's important to remove exactly as much as is needed, and no more.
Once the tooth reduction is finished,
we make temporary teeth, take an impression, and move into fabricating the ceramic veneers.
The biggest hallmark of veneers at Dream Dental Clinic is how natural they look.
Looking natural means having the characteristics of real, natural teeth.
First, there's the translucent feel at the tooth edges.
Since most veneers these days are designed and fabricated by computer,
treatment can be completed quickly — same-day treatment is even possible.
But that kind of method can't express this natural translucency.
Of course, even with handmade fabrication like ours,
not every clinic is able to achieve this feel.
Another hallmark of natural veneers is their sense of dimensionality.
This, too, is something the computer-made method struggles to replicate.
And by blending well with the gums,
the veneers must not have a negative effect on gum health.
Not every tooth can be perfectly symmetrical.
In these asymmetrical areas,
by giving each tooth its own varied expression,
the result can look natural.
Right down to the texture of the tooth surface,
everything needs to be expressed
for the front teeth veneer treatment to come together naturally and beautifully.
