Gangnam Veneer — All-Ceramic Crown Retreatment Before-and-After Photo Gallery

By Park Jonguk, DDS, MS — board-certified specialist in conservative dentistry Published

Hello, I am Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic.

Today I'd like to show you before-and-after photos of various Gangnam veneer and all-ceramic crown treatments.

There are cases treated with resin for a cavity

and then improved aesthetically with a veneer,

and cases where an old all-ceramic crown chipped

and was redone as a result,

among various other cases I'd like to show you.

Every case proceeds based on an accurate diagnosis,

and this diagnostic process

reflects what I've learned over my many years of practicing dental contouring,

and it's a method I developed to get better results.

Case 1

Decay forming on the front teeth

happens in many cases despite good brushing habits —

it's often simply unavoidable.

Saliva has a mechanism that defends against decay,

and some people are born with a weaker version of it.

Or when a front tooth chips

and is treated with resin,

the area around the resin can keep discoloring or develop secondary decay.

Through repeated treatment, the tooth keeps getting destroyed,

and aesthetic problems develop as well.

In the case above too, from repeated resin treatment,

the two front teeth lost their symmetry,

and the resin area kept expanding, gradually making the tooth shape look increasingly odd.

We treat using Gangnam veneers and all-ceramic crowns.

We make the tooth alignment more even,

and give it a brighter, more translucent feel.

What matters is a prettier result that doesn't look awkward or artificial.

The texture of the tooth surface is also matched to that of a natural tooth.

Case 2

This is the state where a front tooth was treated with an all-ceramic crown a long time ago.

The teeth on both sides of the front tooth are undersized (peg) teeth.

For overall improvement, along with redoing the all-ceramic crown,

we also did Gangnam veneers on the canine and the undersized tooth at the same time.

There was a big difference in gum height,

and the gum area wasn't visible at all when speaking or smiling.

Without doing gum contouring surgery,

we only adjusted the shape of the teeth.

We deliberately created a root-like shape

at the tip of the tooth, out of ceramic.

The color of the Gangnam veneer and the all-ceramic crown

has to be matched so they harmonize well.

Case 3

This is a redo case of an old all-ceramic crown.

You can see chipped or cracked areas.

The tooth color is dull and dark,

and the tooth shape is unnatural as well.

Through the redo of the Gangnam veneer and all-ceramic crown,

we improved the teeth to be brighter, more beautiful, and more translucent.

The teeth are now even more natural and beautiful.
