Cheongdam Dental Clinic: Veneer Treatment for Prominent Buck Teeth

By Park Jonguk, DDS, MS — board-certified specialist in conservative dentistry Published

Hello. I'm Park Jonguk, director of Dream Dental Clinic, a Cheongdam-area dental clinic.

Poor tooth alignment can show up in a variety of ways.

Sometimes the canines stick out,

sometimes the teeth are uneven,

and in some cases only the two front teeth protrude.

This is commonly called buck teeth.

Usually it's just the two teeth that protrude.

In cases like this, orthodontic treatment at a Cheongdam-area clinic is often the best choice.

But in limited situations,

front-tooth veneer treatment is done instead.

Veneer treatment for protruding teeth

requires a greater amount of tooth reduction,

so it has to be done with a thorough treatment plan.

For our clinic's veneer treatment process and features, please see the link below.

The two front teeth were quite large

and protruded like buck teeth.

This is clearly visible in the side-view photo.

When teeth protrude and stick out like this,

it simply can't look esthetically good.

The problem is that if we try to make the teeth look like they've moved inward without orthodontics,

the amount of tooth reduction becomes considerably greater.

To resolve this problem,

we, as a Cheongdam-area clinic, have to plan very carefully.

First, we have to decide how to handle the tooth alignment.

Rather than forcing the protruding teeth inward,

our Cheongdam-area clinic uses a method that brings the other teeth out slightly instead.

The two protruding buck teeth are brought in a bit,

and the other teeth are moved out slightly so the alignment becomes even —

only this way can we reduce the amount of tooth reduction.

In particular, aside from the two protruding teeth, the rest can be treated with no-prep veneers at our Cheongdam-area clinic.

The tooth shape as seen from the front is also improved.

We build the treatment plan while considering all of these various factors.

And we shape that plan in wax.

This process is called precision wax-up diagnosis.

In this process, the amount of tooth reduction is all decided as well.

We reduce the teeth according to the finalized treatment plan.

For the two front teeth, we carry out standard veneer reduction,

while the other teeth receive no-prep veneers.

The front-tooth veneer treatment for the protruding buck teeth has been completed.

Both the alignment and the shape of the teeth improved.

The tooth color isn't excessive or artificial —

a natural feel remains alive.

A natural-looking tooth is determined by its dimensionality, color, and translucency.

Right down to the texture of the tooth surface,

the look of a natural tooth is well expressed,

while still being beautiful and natural.

You can clearly see how much the protruding look has improved.
