Natural, Beautiful Veneer Treatment

Treatment that improves the shape, color, and proportion of the teeth is called dental cosmetic reshaping.

There are two methods of dental cosmetic reshaping: veneers and all-ceramic crowns.

Many people assume that any treatment done on the front teeth is a veneer.

Veneers are a method that removes less tooth structure,

while all-ceramic crowns remove much more,

and perhaps because some clinics used to call both by the same name, veneers,

many people believe they had veneer treatment

even when they actually had an all-ceramic crown.

On top of that, these days each clinic gives veneer treatment its own different name,

marketing it as though it were a different treatment, which seems to add even more confusion.

Giving something a new name doesn't make it a new treatment.

The basic purpose of veneer treatment

is to make the teeth beautiful.

What counts as beautiful teeth naturally involves a lot of personal preference.

Some people consider natural, harmonious teeth beautiful,

while others may prefer veneers that are white and opaque, even if they look awkward and obvious.

It's the same with eye or nose surgery — some people prefer a natural result,

while others prefer one that's noticeable.

At our clinic, Dream Dental, rather than that kind of obvious-looking veneer,

we aim for natural-looking veneers.

White, opaque, awkward-looking veneers are quite easy to make.

Fitting natural color and a range of expression into thin veneer ceramic is a very difficult process.

The front teeth included an undersized tooth as well as an old all-ceramic crown.

The alignment wasn't even, and the angle of each tooth was different.

The color and translucency of the all-ceramic crown were relatively good,

but the symmetry and length didn't match.

While resolving these various issues,

and expressing as much of the beauty of natural teeth as possible,

we decided to proceed with veneer treatment.

The precision wax-up diagnostic process for treatment is carried out.

This process is essential in every veneer treatment.

The wax-up produced through this process

is also important when fabricating the temporary teeth,

so it's a step every veneer treatment needs to go through.

Temporary teeth were fabricated after tooth reduction.

Temporary teeth do help protect the tooth during treatment,

but more importantly, they let us preview the treatment outcome and consult with the patient.

Through extensive conversation and consultation with the patient during this process,

the desired size, shape, and proportion of the teeth are decided.

The front veneer treatment has been completed.

If you look closely at the detailed expression in the teeth,

you'll notice subtle color differences from one part of the tooth to another.

The translucent area at the tip of the tooth is clearly expressed.

The shape of the tooth also retains its sense of dimension,

and it's designed to bring out all the detailed expression of the line angles.

To capture all of this detailed expression,

a hand-built process of layering multiple coats of ceramic is required.

Through this process, each layer carries a different expression,

producing a veneer with a level of detail that sets it apart.
