Cheongdam-dong Veneers, Done Without Any Tooth Reduction

The thing that worries me most when doing veneer treatment in Cheongdam-dong

is, without fail, tooth reduction.

Dentists, after all, spend their careers cutting teeth.

Reducing a tooth because of a cavity,

or as part of root canal treatment,

is naturally unavoidable.

But when it comes to reducing a tooth purely for cosmetic reasons,

nearly every dentist

feels a degree of worry and hesitation first.

How wonderful would it be

to place a veneer without cutting a single tooth?

Every case brings up this same question,

but the cases where no-prep veneers are actually possible are limited.

The alignment has to be good,

the teeth have to be small,

and they can't be protruded or sticking out.

It's not common to find a case that meets all three conditions exactly.

No-prep veneers are usually used

when teeth have become retroclined after orthodontics,

when a tooth is undersized (a peg tooth),

or when there are gaps between the teeth.

In the case above, retroclined teeth from orthodontics and an undersized tooth

were present together,

making it a case ideally suited to no-prep veneers.

Through precise diagnosis,

we plan out

exactly how no-prep veneers in Cheongdam-dong can be achieved.

This process is the most important step in Cheongdam-dong veneer treatment,

and it's especially critical for no-prep veneers.

Using the completed wax-up,

we can preview in advance how the no-prep veneers will look.

We fabricate a resin temporary tooth

so the volume,

size, and overall feel after treatment can be previewed beforehand.

We also perform gum contouring to make the teeth look longer.

This involves trimming the gum tissue with a laser,

and it's important that the gum shape holds up well once it heals.

Gum contouring should only be performed to an extent that doesn't affect gum health.

The Cheongdam-dong veneer treatment has been completed.

The bright, clear, translucent feel is well preserved.

With no-prep veneers, the ceramic has to be made quite thin,

which makes it harder to build in varied expression,

but with years of experience, a natural expression is still captured.

This is how, without reducing any tooth structure,

a beautiful result was achieved with no-prep veneers.
