All-Ceramic Crown Retreatment and Veneer Treatment

As a method of improving tooth shape

using ceramic,

it's divided into two options: an all-ceramic crown and a veneer.

An all-ceramic crown covers the entire tooth,

involving a fairly large amount of tooth reduction,

while a veneer covers the front surface of the tooth in ceramic,

which may or may not involve reducing the tooth.

Teeth treated this way

aren't meant to last a lifetime as-is,

and after time passes, a redo is needed for various reasons.

Gum inflammation or changes in tooth alignment are major reasons,

but cracking or fracturing of the ceramic is also one of the causes of a redo.

The all-ceramic crown on the front tooth has fractured.

The adjacent natural tooth is also fractured.

It appears to have been fractured by trauma.

Only two of the front teeth have all-ceramic crowns,

and we decided to also do veneer treatment on the other teeth while doing the redo.

Since the gum shape wasn't even either,

we decided to correct the gumline as well as treat the fractured tooth.

Once we removed the crown,

we found it had already been reduced far too much.

The reason the gumline was uneven

was that one tooth was significantly protruding outward,

and a crown had been forced onto it without orthodontic treatment,

which is what caused the gumline asymmetry.

We use temporary teeth to correct the gum shape.

It's good to observe for 1-2 weeks in this state to see how well the gums adapt.

We can confirm that the gum shape has become symmetrical.

We proceed with reducing the other teeth for the veneers.

Aiming for natural-looking teeth, we move into fabricating the veneers and all-ceramic crown with ceramic.
