A Gangnam Veneer Clinic: When Gum Contouring Needs to Go Along with Veneers

When patients come in because the gums around their front teeth are swollen,

in most cases it's gum inflammation or periodontitis.

In many cases, it clears up with scaling alone.

But occasionally, it doesn't go away even after scaling.

In such cases, rather than the gum being swollen,

the shape of the gum itself has become distorted.

In these cases, gum contouring needs to be done using a laser, and

when gum contouring is combined with veneer treatment this way,

temporary teeth play an important role.

Temporary teeth are used to check whether the gum reverts back to its original shape.

For that, the temporary teeth themselves have to be made with a fairly high level of detail.

Let's look at a case involving a gum shape abnormality rather than inflammation,

where gum contouring and veneer treatment were carried out together.

The gum around the front teeth was swollen.

At first, I too assumed it was simply swollen, so I did scaling and

gum treatment, expecting it to improve, but it stayed the same.

The shape of the gum itself was simply like that, so

laser gum contouring was needed.

The tooth color itself was too yellow, and

the shape wasn't good either, so we decided to proceed with veneer treatment at our Gangnam veneer clinic.

Tooth reduction and gum contouring were carried out at the same time.

If it had been inflammation, then after laser gum contouring,

the bleeding wouldn't stop this quickly.

The fact that it was cut cleanly means it wasn't inflammation,

but rather that the shape of the gum itself was the problem.

The photo above is a good example of a very standard amount of veneer reduction at our Gangnam veneer clinic.

Using this amount of reduction as a baseline, depending on the case,

sometimes a bit more is reduced,

and sometimes far less is reduced.

This process of reducing the teeth

clear translucency has to be built into the tip of the tooth.

The tooth's sense of dimension is also very important.

The tooth color was finished brighter.

Treatment has been completed.

The teeth were made brighter, and expressed in a way that is both natural and beautiful.
