Minimal-Reduction Veneers for an Aesthetic Purpose

Minimal-reduction veneers are, of course, done for an aesthetic purpose.

Since this is a treatment meant to make teeth look pretty,

the goal of pretty teeth needs to be clear.

Some people like white, opaque teeth even if they look artificial and unnatural,

while others may prefer teeth that are a bit yellow but blend well with the rest.

Everyone has a different standard of beauty, but

the beautiful teeth I aim for are

not white, unnatural-looking teeth,

but teeth that feel natural while still bright, clear, and translucent.

Not teeth that make anyone think at a glance, "that's obviously minimal-reduction veneers," like a stick of xylitol gum stuck on,

but teeth that keep a natural beauty.

The resin treatment done long ago had discolored,

so the patient came in for retreatment.

The front teeth aren't very visible in this photo, but

they had also been treated with resin.

Several areas like this had been treated with resin,

and since resin discolors over time by nature,

in order to keep the result problem-free for a longer period,

we decided to go with minimal-reduction veneer treatment.

Ceramic veneers

don't discolor, aside from the bonding agent.

Beyond the resin's discoloration,

we decided to brighten the overall tooth color

and also make the tooth shape more beautiful.

We analyze the current condition and preview the expected tooth shape using a wax-up.

An important feature of natural teeth is

their natural sense of depth, color, and translucency.

Reproducing all of this in an extremely thin veneer ceramic

becomes quite a difficult task.

With the veneers, we shaped the teeth to match the patient's face shape and gender as closely as possible,

improving them to be more even and beautiful.

The details here matter a great deal.

Since the gum shapes around the two front teeth were different,

it would have been easy for the result to end up asymmetrical.

It's important here to give the teeth a natural shape while keeping them symmetrical.

Through minimal-reduction veneers,

the teeth were reborn this beautifully.
